Dr. Fa’afouina Afato
A graduate of John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii, and a native of the South Pacific islands of Western Samoa, Dr. Afato has been in practice since 1994. Recruited to the Yuba-Sutter area from his Residency program at UC Irvine in Southern California, Dr. Afato brings a welcome blend of professionalism and Polynesian hospitality to his family practice. Board Certified with the American Board of Ambulatory Medicine, a Life Member of the American Academy of Ambulatory Care and a UC Davis Preceptor in Family Medicine, Dr. Afato has successfully expanded his private practice to include an urgent care, occupational medicine, x-ray and several in-house diagnostic services.Recognizing that the current health care model is largely illness and disease driven, his vision is to facilitate a paradigm shift in the delivery of health care by promoting a healthy and active lifestyle to his patients, including balanced nutrition and health supplements when needed.In February 2010, Dr. Afato purchased a local natural foods market, Sunflower Natural Food Market, Bakery & Deli. This endeavor is yet another step towards promoting health and wellness to his patients and the community.In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and seven young children, volunteering in the community and attending his children’s sporting events and school activities.
Lindsay pic Dr. Lindsay Agolia
Dr. Lindsay Agolia grew up in the Bay Area of California.  After spending time traveling and exploring different areas of healthcare, she moved to the Pacific Northwest to pursue her education.  She attended Seattle University for college, and then earned her Medical Degree from the University of Washington in 2008.  A desire to be close to her family, as well as her interest in Latino health led her back to California to complete her residency training in Family Medicine.  She has since been practicing full scope primary care with an emphasis on women’s health, chronic disease management, and preventive health maintenance.“My commitment to Family Medicine is strong and I cherish the opportunity to provide each of my patients with compassionate care.  I value the process of developing honest relationships, and hope that together we can improve the quality of your health and allow you achieve the most out of your life.  I am passionate about providing quality primary care to my community.  Away from the office I spend my time cooking and eating delicious food with my husband, discovering new hiking trails with my dog and singing silly songs to my beautiful baby girl.”

TJ Maroon, M.D., has been a board certified physician in the State of California since 1995. Dr. Maroon was born and reared in the San Francisco Bay Area and attended public schools including U.C. Davis. He is a former collegiate wrestler and graduated from U.C. Davis with a degree in Exercise Physiology and the U.C. Davis School of Medicine with a Doctorate of Medicine degree in 1994. He completed an internship and residency in Anesthesiology and has extensive postgraduate experience in Nutrition Medicine. He is Board Certified in Obesity Medicine, with the American Society of Obesity Medicine and Anesthesiology, with the American Board of Anesthesiology; he is a Diplomate with the Obesity Medical Association, the oldest physician professional group in the country solely devoted to the treatment of obesity and its concomitant diseases.

In addition to his professional pursuits Dr. Maroon has been a volunteer wrestling coach and mentor of a local middle school wrestling program for the past twelve years. He has a passion to help people of all ages become healthier and lead more productive and fulfilling lives. He has extensive knowledge in physiology, pharmacology and pathology; he champions diet, micronutrient/herbal medications, regular physical activity, cognitive behavioral therapies and the use of pharmaceutical medications, when appropriate, to achieve health and wellness. Lastly, Dr. Maroon has provided anesthetic medical, pain management, and urgent care services to thousands of bariatric patients in the region. He regularly provides preoperative consultations for bariatric patients undergoing bariatric and non-bariatric surgical procedures.
